Berlin soccer during the Nazi era: Conference on the BFV study

In 2022, the Berlin Football Association commissioned a scientific study on the "History of Berlin Football during the Nazi Era" and is the only state association to date to have examined the impact of the Nazi dictatorship on organized soccer in this form. In addition to coming to terms with the past, the association is also confronted with current social developments such as the increase in anti-Semitism and racism in soccer. With the study, the association is facing up to its responsibility, wants to make a contribution to the future handling of the topic and hopes to provide impetus for further work within the association and club structures.

Symposium on the study at the end of April 2025

The results of the study will be published and discussed for the first time at a two-day symposium at the end of April 2025 in cooperation with the Berlin State Agency for Civic Education and the Center for Research on Anti-Semitism at the Technical University of Berlin. The event will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 18:00 to 21:00 and on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 9:30 to 15:00 at the Berlin State Center for Political Education (Hardenbergstraße 22-24, 10623 Berlin). On day one, the focus will be on coming to terms with the role of soccer during the Nazi era, while day two will deal specifically with the BFV study.
