The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities obliges the state and society to take measures that enable people with disabilities to participate in sports activities on an equal basis with others. Berlin sports and soccer clubs therefore also have a duty to respond to such requests, but also to act proactively. Including people with disabilities in the club, whether as players, coaches, trainers or in other roles, initially appears to be a major challenge and an additional task that can hardly be accomplished in Berlin's already very busy soccer clubs.

Training courses offered by the Berlin Football Association and its cooperation partners provide information and recommendations for action to make it easier for clubs to implement inclusive soccer programs.

BFV short training course: Football and inclusion

The training course "Football and Inclusion" offers assistance on how existing offers can be adapted and new inclusive and disability-specific soccer offers and variants can be implemented and promoted. This is carried out once a year by the inclusion officer of the Berlin Football Association on the following topics: What forms of play and offers are there for footballers with disabilities? How can inclusive offers be organized and implemented in the club? What are the benefits for clubs and players? What challenges are there for coaches? What could a practical session look like? How can inclusive programs in clubs be financed?

The training lasts two hours and takes place at Haus des Fußballs (Humboldtstraße 8a, 14193 Berlin). The event is free of charge and C-license holders receive three learning units (LE) for license renewal.

SPORT INCLUSIVE symposium - "Just do it!"

The SPORT INCLUSIVE symposium offers an introduction to inclusive sport. Simply try it out and just do it is the motto for breaking down barriers in sport.

The aim of the event is to provide trainers and coaches from a wide range of sports with practical examples of successful inclusion in sport to give them the tools they need to create sport for everyone. Participants are encouraged to change their perspective and try out different sports such as soccer for the blind or wheelchair sports to find out how barriers can be broken down using simple means.

The SPORT INKLUSIV symposium is a joint event organized by the Berlin Football Association, the Berlin Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association (BSB), Special Olympics Berlin-Brandenburg and the Berlin State Sports Association (LSB).

The event is recognized by the aforementioned associations as further training with 8 learning units (LE) for license renewal.
