Berlin has a unique pool of talent that is recruited from all districts of the city. Flanked by the two performance centers of the professional clubs 1. FC Union Berlin and Hertha BSC, the talent development of the Berlin Football Association forms the interface to the junior national teams of the German Football Association. Well-known national players and professionals from all over the world have their roots in Berlin amateur soccer and represent TEAM BERLIN.

U14

The association's youngest selection team is also one of the largest. In addition to top-level development, the focus is also on taking into account the largest possible pool of talents who should be given the opportunity to recommend themselves for higher levels. In close cooperation with the DFB base coordinator, players from the DFB base system are screened and transferred to the U14 level. Numerous performance comparisons with other state associations prepare the talented players for the demands of competitive sport without neglecting their school careers.

U15

The talented U15 players are facing exciting challenges. For the first time, this year's squad has the chance to be nominated for the DFB's U15 national team and, at the same time, players who are active in the highest youth leagues will have more national appearances. The BFV selection will meet up with other state associations for various comparative matches and represent TEAM BERLIN at the DFB national cup.

U16

In addition to the ongoing competition with other state associations, Berlin's U16 team also competes in DFB state cups. This gives them the opportunity to recommend themselves for a call-up to the national team. At U16 level, many players will also be competing for the last time with their club in the Berlin-only competition before they face Germany-wide opponents in the DFB's U17 and U19 youth leagues.

U17 and older

Depending on the DFB's scouting tournaments (so-called state cups), selection teams are formed for the older age groups to compare themselves with the other state associations. The support provided by the coaches in this area is also increasingly focused on the so-called "second path", which includes the support of players who have not yet made the leap into a youth performance center, as well as support in further career planning, e.g. as a coach in performance-oriented soccer.
