Prevention project for young people (PPJ) - "You dream of them"
The PPJ is aimed at adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 who are sexually attracted to children's bodies (in the sense of pedophilia). The aim of the diagnostic-therapeutic treatment program is to prevent first-time or repeated sexual assaults on children as well as the use of abusive images (so-called "child pornography"). At the same time, the PPJ aims to stabilize the mental health of adolescents with possible sexual impulses and to treat any existing or developing comorbid psychiatric disorders.
The diagnostic and, if indicated, therapeutic work takes place against the background of the adolescent patient's developmental age. In order to additionally counteract any stigmatization processes, the PPJ refers to adolescents with sexual fantasies as having a "sexual preference peculiarity" or "sexual responsiveness through the child's body schema". As part of the prevention project, psychiatric aspects are also taken into account as an important component of diagnosis and therapy alongside sexual medicine content in order to obtain as comprehensive a picture of the adolescent as possible. Participation in the PPJ is free of charge, protected by medical/therapeutic confidentiality and anonymous.
Those interested in the project come to the Berlin prevention project from all over Germany, but also from abroad. A large number of patients are currently willing to accept long travel times - and the associated financial costs - in order to take part in the therapeutic program. The long-term goal is to establish a nationwide service to give affected young people the opportunity to take advantage of diagnostic or therapeutic services close to home.
The Prevention Project for Adolescents (PPJ) has been in existence since 2014 and is provided by the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine at Charité Berlin in cooperation with the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at Vivantes Klinikum im Friedrichshain (Berlin). The project is financed as part of a pilot project by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV).
Adolescents who experience sexual fantasies directed at children can contact the project hotline on 030/450 529 529 or by e-mail(ppj-internet@spam.charite.de) and make an appointment for a diagnosis.
