The Berlin Football Association offers qualification measures for a large number of players in the soccer sector.

Club stewards and security

The DFB provides a compact training course for soccer clubs that want to find out more about club stewards. This can be accessed permanently and free of charge online. The training consists of five practical, compact modules and offers valuable support for all those who take on responsibility on match day. The aim is to prepare participants for their tasks and duties in the best possible way - comprehensibly, flexibly and directly applicable.

Anti-violence course

The BFV offers players and coaches the opportunity to participate in a prevention seminar (anti-violence course) to reduce suspensions imposed by the sports court and/or to regain their eligibility to play following suspensions that include the requirement to participate. The content of these events is the discussion of prevention measures and the avoidance of future violent confrontations and conflicts on and off the pitch.

Specifically, it concerns, among other things

  • the immediate incident

  • the escalation process (dynamics, irritability thresholds, loss of control, justification strategies, involvement of outsiders)

  • Behavioral alternatives and future adequate handling of conflicts (self-control strategies and "exits" from violent dynamics)

  • Selected communication basics

  • Fairness and role model behavior (rules and voluntary commitments, mediation strategies)

If necessary - where whole teams are involved - a visit to a match (with subsequent evaluation) will be arranged.

The seminars are offered quarterly. They comprise three three-hour sessions (each from 18:00 to 21:00, usually during the week) over the course of a month. Participation in all three parts is mandatory in order to regain eligibility to play, insofar as this is ordered by the sports court. A certificate of attendance is issued to participants and deposited with the BFV.

Interested clubs also have the option of voluntarily taking part in an anti-violence course in order to actively carry out prevention work.

Implementation

If an incident has occurred during BFV match operations and a player, coach or supervisor has been ordered to attend an anti-violence seminar by the BFV sports court, the following steps must be observed:

  • There are approximately four to five anti-violence courses with a maximum of ten participants each per season. The dates are published on the BFV homepage and registration takes place via the online form. It is possible that a player may have to wait several weeks for an appointment.

  • After confirmation of participation by the referees, the sports court receives information about the fulfillment of the conditions and initiates further steps.

  • After the end of the suspension and fulfillment of the condition, the player can play again under probation.

Costs

The costs for the anti-violence course must be borne either by the person responsible or by the club.

  • Costs per individual participant: 130 euros

  • Costs for an entire team: 850 euros

Alternative sanction options for the sports court

  • Anti-discrimination seminar/anti-racism seminar

  • Community service in the club (tournament organization, refereeing youth matches, etc.)

  • Club mediation/match abandonment coaching

  • Rules course

Voluntary participation as a preventive measure

Interested clubs also have the opportunity to voluntarily take part in an anti-violence course in order to actively carry out prevention work.

The following conditions apply to bookings:

  • the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 15 people per team

  • Duration: 120 to 180 minutes

  • Location: in the clubhouse/on the sports field

  • Dates are arranged individually between the speaker and the club

A request must be sent in writing by e-mail to BFV contact person Alina Förster(alina.foerster@spam.berlinerfv.de).

Crime scene coaching zone - When is it too much?

The training course is aimed at coaches who want to learn about respectful behavior on the soccer pitch. Participants will discuss what appreciative and respectful interaction on the soccer pitch means to them and how this can be seen in their behavior in practical situations. The great responsibility of the coach's role is addressed and examined with regard to various people involved in soccer (players, referees, spectators, club officials). Particular attention is paid to the interaction between coaches and referees, especially in emotionalized situations. Various emotionalizing situations are examined from different perspectives (coaches, referees) and evaluated by Berlin referees on the level of correct application of the rules and their personal feelings. Participants are encouraged to exchange ideas with each other and with the referees present.

The training course is offered in various formats:

  • 10 LE short training course on one training day

  • 20 LE training on two training days

  • Tailored to your wishes/your club at any time on request

Referee qualification - violence prevention topics

The qualification of referees who are members of the Berlin Football Association is an important topic.

All referees who are trained in the BFV receive basic training on the topic of "Violence prevention - communication, body language and conflict management" in the beginners' course. Building on this, all referees are required to complete the advanced training course on violence prevention in the follow-up course within the first year after completing the beginners' course.

The topic of "Dealing with discrimination" will be discussed and dealt with at regular intervals as part of the regular teaching groups. In addition, all referees are provided with DFB materials (in particular the checklist for dealing with discrimination).

The BFV's basic training course on "Dealing with discrimination" is available digitally and can be completed by any referee at any time. Newly trained referees must provide proof of having completed the training within the first year.
