The Berlin State Sports Association has launched the popular initiative "The Games for Berlin" to support a bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the capital. To this end, the LSB is collecting signatures from the Berlin population - a campaign that the Berlin Football Association expressly supports. The bid aims to achieve five goals for sport in Berlin:
Berlin bids with partners as a candidate of the German Olympic Sports Confederation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sport will be promoted for all social groups and there will be a daily sports program for children in schools.
As part of the bid, the renovation and new construction of sports facilities and swimming pools in Berlin will be given high priority and financial security.
With the financing of the Games, a fund will be set up that invests directly in popular sports, in particular in the promotion of sports personnel and sports infrastructure.
Administrative work will be made easier and will strengthen voluntary commitment in sport and beyond sport.
Clubs are called upon: Simply take part and benefit greatly
Berlin clubs are called upon to take part in collecting signatures by the end of 2025. The LSB's pre-prepared signature lists can be displayed in the clubhouse or at home games, general meetings and club events, for example, and signed by members and visitors (eligible voters aged 16 and over with their main residence in Berlin). The committed clubs are thus not only doing something for the Olympic Games in their home city, but are also benefiting themselves in the long term and sustainably from the advertised goals.

BFV President Bernd Schultz says: "The Olympic and Paralympic Games represent an incomparable opportunity for Berlin to once again present itself to the world as a sports metropolis and outstanding host city. With their signatures for the initiative of the State Sports Association, the clubs can also achieve a great deal for themselves. The direct benefits that Berlin clubs will derive from the renovation of sports facilities and a grassroots sports fund, among other things, are enormous and I hope that our clubs and their members and fans will be very involved."
