It was with great sadness that the Berlin Football Association received the news that Rosemarie Halfter passed away on February 2, 2026 at the age of 85. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family and all her loved ones.
Rosemarie "Rosi" Halfter was considered a true institution in Berlin amateur soccer during her long period of voluntary work. For decades, she worked as the office manager at FC Hertha 03 Zehlendorf and was also a contact person and organizer for a wide range of club issues. She always had an open ear for the concerns of her club colleagues and, with her tireless commitment and warmth, shaped everyday life in the office like no other.
In addition to her club activities, Rosemarie Halfter also volunteered on the Berlin Football Association's match committee. From 2007 to 2015, she worked at the Haus des Fußballs as the committee's managing director and was held in the highest esteem by all those who accompanied her. She always maintained a close relationship with the full-time staff at the office, who regularly enjoyed the cakes she brought with her and still have fond memories of their time together at the association. She was also a long-standing and popular member of the Traditionsgemeinschaft des Fußballsports Berlin (VAR).
In recognition of her services to the club, the German Football Association awarded Rosemarie Halfter the DFB Merit Pin in 2003 and Hertha 03 Zehlendorf its Silver Merit Pin in 2004. In 2008, the Berlin Football Association also awarded her its Silver Badge of Honor for her outstanding voluntary commitment to the BFV.
In Rosemarie Halfter, Berlin soccer has lost an outstanding personality who put her heart and soul, dedication and humanity into her favorite sport. Her positive attitude to life and her tireless commitment will be remembered for a long time to come and she will be eternally grateful.
The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Südwestkirchhof Stahnsdorf (Bahnhofstraße 2, 14532 Stahnsdorf).
