The Berlin Football Association is launching an over-35 league for women* for the first time in the 2025/2026 season. Eleven teams registered for the premiere season of the new league by the registration deadline on June 30, 2025. In addition to a representation of Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin, teams from BSC Marzahn, BSV Heinersdorf, DFC Kreuzberg, FFC Berlin, Friedrichshagener SV, FSV Hansa 07, Kickerinhas, Pichanga FC, SV Seitenwechsel and Viktoria Mitte will compete against each other in two seasons.

"The start of the Ü35 league is a milestone"

The BFV's over-35 league is an important step towards expanding the range of grassroots sport for women* in Berlin. In the long term, the aim is to broaden and further develop the structures beyond the girls' and women's sector. Similar to the BFV's senior men's and old league game operations, where competitions for the Ü32, Ü40, Ü50 and Ü60 have been established on both small and large pitches, offers for women* are also to gradually follow in other age groups.

"Even though individual female players have been active in the senior and altliga in the past, there has not yet been a specific match offer for women over 35 in Berlin," says Nadine Grund, BFV Presidential Member for Women and Girls, and emphasizes: "The start of the Ü35 league is a milestone in further strengthening the structures in Berlin women's soccer and a step towards more equality. I am sure that with the new competition we will create an attractive offer that shows that women can also play good soccer at an older age."

Participation in the NOFV championship beckons

A first important step on the way to the new league was the over-35 FLINTA tournament with DFC Kreuzberg in the summer of 2024. Eleven Berlin clubs took part and it became clear that there is demand for regular over-35 play for women* in the capital. The tournament showed that "players over 35 haven't forgotten anything and still want to kick the ball, even if their knees are a bit sore."

With the new over-35 league, the participating teams not only gain a regular match schedule, but also an attractive incentive for winning the championship: the title winners qualify for the national NOFV over-32 championship, which is played for participation in the German championships in over-32 soccer.
