2nd, lower and 7s men: COSY-WASCH national cup gets under the skin
Emotions that get under your skin
Anyone who has witnessed the final day of the men's COSY-WASCH national cup in recent years knows that cup fever at Monumentenstraße is different. Fan chants such as "Hey, we're going for the COSY-WASCH" are now part of the standard repertoire of amateur football-loving fans who accompany their teams on perhaps the "biggest day of their careers". As the relevant photos prove (see below), the passion for the cup has even gotten under the skin of some fans - the BFV as the organizer and COSY-WASCH as the competition's namesake are naturally delighted, but we will report on whether the tattooed fans will still be happy in twenty years' time.
Of local duels and old acquaintances
This year's finals day will kick off with the men's 7s at 9:30 am. The successor to last year's winners, Wittenauer SC Concordia, will then be sought. It is already clear that the challenge cup will not have to "travel" that far this year. With TSV Berlin-Wittenau and 1. FC Lübars, two teams from the far north of Berlin are in the final. Lübars go into the match as the newly crowned Berlin League champions, while TSV 7s are currently in third place in the state league.
The following lower men's final will also be a local duel at 12:00 noon: Viktoria Berlin III will face FC Hertha 03 Zehlendorf III. Having gone to Berliner SC in Charlottenburg in the last two seasons, the trophy will definitely be back in Steglitz-Zehlendorf this year. The last time this happened was in 2023, when Hertha 03 V won the cup. Some of the cup heroes of yesteryear will also be back on the pitch in the final on Whit Monday - this time as the third men's team. The Kreisliga A duels between the two finalists in the current season ended very narrowly: Viktoria won 1:0 in November 2025, while Hertha 03 won 3:2 in March 2026. So excitement is guaranteed!
A few familiar faces from COSY-WASCH's national cup history will also be involved in the men's 2 final, which will conclude the long cup holiday from 3:00 pm: After FC Internationale II had to admit defeat in the final two years ago, the Schöneberg side will be doing everything they can to lift the title in 2026. The state league team will go into the clash with Spandauer Kickers II, who play in the Kreisliga A. SpaKi celebrated the first final appearance in the club's history and will go into the clash with courage and euphoria - maybe it will be enough for a surprise?
