After completing the 1st main round of the COSY-WASCH regional cup, the regular league season is back: On Friday evening, August 22, 2025, the Berlin-Liga of the 1st men will officially start the new season. To kick things off, Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin will host Polar Pinguin on the sports field at Rathausstraße (Rathausstraße 10 A, 12105 Berlin).
Duel debut in the league
When referee Marcel Mallassa blows the whistle at 18:30, it will be the first meeting between the two clubs in the league. For Blau-Weiß 90, the start of the season also means a return to the stage of Berlin's top division: After being relegated twice in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, the Mariendorfers fought back impressively last season and secured direct promotion back to the top of the Landesliga.
After coach Simon Falke left the Penguins at the end of the season to take up the post of co-coach at Union Berlin's Bundesliga women's team, the responsibility now lies in the hands of Leonard Kai Fuhlert. His task is to continue the positive development of recent seasons. Fuhlert and his team already mastered their first endurance test in the first main round of the COSY-WASCH state cup: Polar Pinguin surprised the favored Oberliga team Viktoria Berlin with a 3:2 victory in regular time. Blau-Weiß 90 also impressed in the cup with a clear 17:0 win against Motherland Berlin SC
