BFV membership reaches new high

For the year 2025 (as of January 1), the Berlin Football Association is once again reporting membership growth, reaching a new high with a total of 244,833 members. This corresponds to an increase of 5.63% compared to the previous year (2024: 231,769). The BFV is therefore once again the association with the most members in Berlin's sports landscape, as demonstrated by the latest membership survey by the Berlin State Sports Association (LSB).

Constantly rising membership figures

As in recent years, the number of members has continued to rise steadily this year. Particularly pleasing: the number of active female members has once again increased significantly by 10.60% (2025: 9,413; 2024: 8,511). With a total of 30,962 female members, the overall number remains at a respectable level. There was also a slight increase in the number of active male members (2025: 92,534; 2024: 92,307), while the total number of male members rose to 214,369. Also worth mentioning is the number of registered referees, which amounts to 1,116, thus consolidating a stable four-digit level.

"The growing enthusiasm for soccer in Berlin is a great testament to the vibrant sports culture in our city. I would particularly like to emphasize the ever-increasing number of active female and male juniors," explains BFV President Bernd Schultz. "My thanks therefore go to all those who, with their dedication and commitment, are helping to make the soccer landscape more attractive, to break down barriers and thus continue to try to make soccer accessible to everyone."
