Year-end party at the Plötzensee juvenile detention center

The Berlin Football Association and the Plötzensee juvenile detention center have been linked by a close partnership since 1996. A fixed item on the program is the end-of-year party, which traditionally takes place on the first Tuesday of every last month. Here, the players of the AG enjoy entertaining hours together with employees and guests of honor, including show interludes and a buffet.

"Support from the city community"

Prison director Bill Borchert opened the ceremony and emphasized the tradition. He thanked the good cooperation with the BFV and praised the "support from the city community", which does not let "our young men" fall into oblivion. He particularly mentioned the special sports facilities, including the beach volleyball court opened this year, and emphasized the importance of sporting activities at the JSA. He also welcomed star guest Änis Ben-Hatira and the magician with a special round of applause.

This was followed by BFV Vice-President Özgür Özvatan, who thanked the advisory board and support association. He also praised the initiative of an employee who put up a private Christmas tree. It is nice to see people with heart and soul, he said. Özvatan addressed his wishes for strength to the inmates who "are stuck in the JSA for whatever reason. The BFV would like to give [them] strength and not forget them."
