Now that the first teams have already competed in the qualifying round, the first main round of the COSY-WASCH Berlin State Cup for men is set to take place next weekend. Soccer fans can look forward to the match between FC Stern Marienfelde and Pfeffersport, among others. The match will be covered by the BFV as the "Match of the Day". The cup clash will kick off on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 7:30 pm at the An der Dorfkirche sports ground (An der Dorfkirche 9, 12277 Berlin).
Impressive pre-season preparation
Both teams are based in the Landesliga, Stern Marienfelde in season 2 and Pfeffersport in season 1. While the hosts finished their last season in a solid seventh place, Pfeffersport crowned an outstanding season in the Bezirksliga with the championship title and the associated promotion. The visitors from Prenzlauer Berg are thus continuing their success story: They have been promoted three times in the last six seasons and have already carried the momentum into the current summer: Pfeffersport secured the title in the traditional "Exer-Pokal", Pankow's district cup. Elias Aguigah, who was the tournament's top scorer with nine goals, played a key role in this.
However, FC Stern Marienfelde also impressed in preparation and celebrated a victory against Berlin league side TSV Rudow, among others. Both teams will therefore go into this cup match with plenty of self-confidence. The battle for a place in the 2nd main round therefore promises to be heated, which will not only be due to the forecast August temperatures.
