The Berlin U19 futsal team impressively demonstrated their class at the nationwide DFB-Stützpunkt 2026 tournament in Duisburg and deservedly secured the tournament victory. With four wins and one draw (victory in the deciding shoot-out), the team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and thus prevailed against strong competition from all over Germany. The tournament was used by the DFB as a screening measure for the upcoming U19 futsal national team for the 2008 and 2009 age groups.

Berlin triumphs at nationwide DFB base tournament
With morale and playing strength
The Berliners underlined their ambitions right from the start. The team put in a convincing performance against the team from Stuttgart and deservedly won 5:2. Berlin also left nothing to be desired in the second game: Against the participating Bundesliga team Preußen Münster, the Berlin selection presented itself as extremely powerful and determined. In the end, thanks to late goals, the scoreboard showed a 4:1 victory.
The duel with Frankfurt/Main developed into a real endurance test. In an intense and evenly-matched game, the Berlin team proved its morale and playing strength and, after trailing 2:1 at one stage, narrowly won 3:2 against the team from Hesse. Another exclamation mark followed in the game against Munich. With a disciplined performance and efficient exploitation of chances, Berlin secured a deserved 2:0 victory.
In the last match of the tournament, the Berlin team faced Gütersloh. After a high-class regular time match, the score was 1:1, so that the decision had to be made in a 10-meter shoot-out. The Berlin team held their nerve and won 1:0, rounding off their impressive tournament performance.
"Well-deserved reward for a strong performance"
The coaching team Bennett/Scharlowsky concluded: "As a Berlin base, we presented ourselves as a cohesive, strong team throughout the tournament with playful quality, tactical discipline, high intensity and remarkable team spirit. The boys also showed an impressive increase in futsal-specific learning. The tournament victory in Duisburg is the well-deserved reward for a consistently strong performance. We are very confident that the boys from Berlin will once again take part in DFB training courses with a view to the U19 futsal national team for the 2008/2009 age group."
