Three times cup fever on Whit Monday

Whit Monday this year is all about the COSY-WASCH national cup. On June 9, starting at 9:30 a.m., the three finals of the 2nd, lower and 7s men will take place on the Monumentenstraße sports field (Monumentenstr. 13c, 10829 Berlin) in Schöneberg. As last year, tickets can only be purchased online via the ticket store of the Berlin Football Association available.

Double-double winner?

The action gets underway at 9:30 a.m. when state league team SV Süden 09 meets Berlin league team and defending champions Wittenauer SC Concordia. Both teams impressed with spectacular performances on their way to the final. The quarter-final between SV Süden and 1.FC Wacker Lankwitz was particularly impressive, with SV Süden coming from 2-0 down at the break to win 3-2 and advance to the semi-finals.

Concordia are aiming for nothing less than their second double in a row: championship and cup, as they did last year. Süden 09, on the other hand, senses a chance to give the favorites a leg up and make cup history themselves.

Battle of the third teams

Afterwards, the third representatives of FSV Spandauer Kickers from Kreisliga A and Berliner SC from the men's Kreisliga C will meet in the final of the lower men's division. This is the third final in a row for Berliner SC. As the reigning cup winners, they now want to achieve the feat of defending their title. However, SpaKi will also travel to Schöneberg with plenty of self-confidence: they marched into the final with strong performances in the current cup season.

Final showdown

The crowning finale of the day will be the men's 2nd division final between FC Stern Marienfelde and BFC Preussen, which kicks off at 15:00. Both teams marched confidently through the cup, keeping a clean sheet in five of their six matches. Particularly impressive: FC Stern Marienfelde II have beaten VSG Altglienicke, the highest-ranked second team in Berlin, in the current cup season. BFC Preussen II, who could celebrate their third cup success in a row, would like to prevent this.
