A total of five Berlin teams secured gold in the final sprint of the regional indoor season, and two BFV teams will even be going for the big time at the DFB national championships in March.

Hertha and Stern complete the BFV squad

Six teams have already been crowned Berlin indoor champions (we reported), when the C and D juniors also entered the final round of the BFV. The Hertha BSC team was able to secure victory in the D-Youth the crown. After a mixed group stage with just one win from three games, the Hertha team advanced to the final with a last-minute semi-final victory. There they beat SF Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, also in the last minute, 2:1 and were crowned Berlin champions.

The last Berlin team to qualify the next day were the C-Juniors of SFC Stern 1900 qualified for the NOFV regional championships. After just one win from three games in the group stage, they won the semi-final after a shoot-out, before the team from Steglitz defeated Tennis Borussia Berlin 3-0 in the final to complete the line-up of BFV indoor champions.

Staaken and Union-Doppel travel to the DFB

At the same time, the NOFV had already started its regional futsal championships and produced its first Berlin team as winners! The B-Juniors of SC Staaken secured the regional championship title at the end of a highly exciting tournament. After second place in the group, a semi-final win against Energie Cottbus and a victory in the deciding shoot-out against Greifswalder FC, the team lifted the trophy and will travel to the German Futsal Championships in Duisburg-Wedau on March 21/22. It wasn't quite enough the next day for the A-Juniors of the SV Empor. Third place in the group led to a placement match against SV Borsch, where they secured fifth place with a clear 5:1 victory.

More successful at the same time were the U23women of the 1. FC Union Berlin. Unbeaten and with a strong goal difference of 9:1 goals from five games, the "Iron Ladies" marched through the tournament, which was played in league mode. In the end, the players proudly hung the gold medals around their necks and were delighted to have qualified for the DFB Championships on March 14-15.

A total of four NOFV Futsal regional championships were held last weekend. Here too, Berlin was represented by a winning team from the BFV indoor championships and was able to celebrate very successful performances. Second place in their respective tournaments was secured by the C-junior girls of 1. FC Union Berlin and the C-juniors The youngsters from Stern 1900 had gone head-to-head with 1. FC Magdeburg in league mode, but had to concede defeat for the first time in the very last game in the direct clash with the Anhalt team and concede gold to their opponents. The Stern youth team had marched into the final of their tournament with three wins in three games. There, however, the team from Steglitz had their lead overturned in a thrilling game and lost 2-1 to VFC Plauen in the battle for the trophy. Fourth place went to the D-Juniors from Hertha BSC. After a bitter semi-final defeat to Babelsberg 03, they were also beaten by Hansa Rostock in the match for third place and finished fourth.

NOFV title number three for TEAM BERLIN was won by the B-Juniors from 1. FC Union. They marched unbeaten through the tournament, which was played in league mode, and only drew in the direct duel against their closest title rivals from Bischofswerdaer FV. However, the Saxons were so far ahead of them in terms of goal difference later in the tournament that they were already cautiously celebrating their victory before the last match of the competition, which was finally sealed shortly afterwards by a 1-1 draw between Bischofswerda and Hansa Rostock. As Union won the German championship last year, the NOFV is providing two teams for this season's national tournament, which means that the youngsters will meet up with Bischofswerda again in March - joy on both sides!
