New structure: Martin Meyer is responsible for BFV communication

Martin Meyer has been responsible for all BFV communication channels as Head of Communications since March 1 and, as the new press spokesperson, is the contact person for journalists and media inquiries.

The restructuring is part of extensive personnel changes in the BFV's main office (see article), which are based on the overarching club and association development under the umbrella of the Team Berlin strategy 2026-2029 pays off. "We want to support our member clubs and the many dedicated volunteers in Berlin soccer even more effectively in the future with new responsibilities and synergies in the BFV's main office," said Managing Director Kevin Langner, explaining the process. "The Communications division will become a departmental unit within the organizational structure, which emphasizes its importance for the association's strategic direction in communications. In Martin Meyer, we have gained an experienced, innovative and digitally-savvy BFV department head for this new area of responsibility. At the same time, I am delighted that our long-standing team leader and press spokesperson, Janosch Franke, is strengthening the department in a new role."

Innovative spirit and diverse perspectives: This is Martin Meyer

Martin Meyer has been working full-time for the Berlin Football Association since 2014 and brings a variety of perspectives from different organizational areas to his new role. After taking his first steps in the area of qualification, he was responsible for the girls' football project "ALLE KICKEN MIT" between 2016 and 2020. He then took over as Head of Qualification & Sport, which was merged into the Qualification, Sport & Sports School department in 2021. His time as head of the department included establishing digital learning formats in coach training, introducing an intranet at the BFV and establishing and moderating dialog formats with Berlin clubs.

Martin Meyer says: "As press spokesperson, my day-to-day professional work is changing in the direction of media work, but not my attitude towards working with the volunteers in Berlin. I feel obliged to continue to put all my efforts at the service of amateur soccer in Berlin. As the Communications department, we will always pursue the goal of making the great voluntary work of Team Berlin visible both internally and externally. I feel very grateful and appreciative of the trust placed in me by the management and the executive committee and look forward to my new tasks."

New role for Janosch Franke

Janosch Franke, who has been responsible for public relations as Team Leader Communications and Press Spokesperson since 2022, will remain with the Berlin Football Association in a new role. As PR & Communications Officer and Deputy Press Spokesperson, the 33-year-old will work at the interface between editorial work and strategic communications development.

"I'm looking forward to the new tasks that await me at the BFV in the future. With the Team Berlin strategy, the association is pursuing an ambitious club and association development project to which I would like to profitably contribute my strengths. With Martin Meyer as the new head of department, communication will be strengthened both structurally and in terms of personnel, giving me new perspectives and freedom in terms of content, which I will fill with life," explains Franke.
