At the end of the 2025/2026 season, the Berlin Soccer Association’s U12 girls’ select team participated in the NOFV tournament in Leipzig, where they once again gained valuable experience playing at a high level. The focus was on consistently implementing their own game plan and further developing key training elements.

U12 in Leipzig: Important Steps in Development as the Season Comes to a Close
Courage, Initiative, and Proactivity at the Heart of Development
Special emphasis was placed on bold teamwork, resolving high-pressure situations in the direction of play, and executing targeted attacks. At times, the players implemented these key areas very well and repeatedly demonstrated impressive approaches in their build-up play and on offense.
At the same time, it became clear that, in particular, the ability to cleanly resolve situations under pressure through skillful play and to consistently push forward still needs further development. There was also a lack of creativity and flexibility at times when adapting to different opposing strategies.
Close games and mixed performances
In a series of very evenly matched games, the Berlin team ultimately finished with one win, two draws, and two losses, placing them 5th in the tournament. The results accurately reflected the course of the games: strong stretches featuring convincing plays alternated with moments when the team lacked consistency and impact in the final third.
However, it was precisely these fluctuations that provided important learning opportunities. The matches against strong opponents made it clear just how crucial consistency, decision-making, and determination are at this level.

Lukas Fechner, the association’s sports instructor, assessed the tournament as follows: “The games clearly showed us once again where we stand and what steps we need to take to improve. At the same time, the training camp was very valuable because the players were able to experience many of these situations for themselves. Many thanks to the NOFV for the excellently organized tournament.”
Despite the mixed results, the overall picture is positive. Over the course of the season, the Berlin U12 team has visibly improved in terms of individual skills. In particular, their growing game intelligence, willingness to play boldly, and openness to learning are clear signs of progress that the clubs can build upon in the coming season.
