Cup fever is on the rise! The women's Polytan Cup is entering its first main round with a premiere: for the first time, the "Match of the Day" format familiar from the men's COSY-WASCH National Cup will also be available in the Polytan Cup.
DFC Kreuzberg and FFC Berlin 2004 will kick off the new series. The match will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 19:00 on the Lobeckstraße sports field (Lobeckstr. 63, 10969 Berlin) and will be accompanied by the BFV in the Instagram story and with a commented post-match report.
Old acquaintances
All spectators can look forward to an exciting match in the "Match of the Day". DFC go into the match in seventh place in the national league table, having made a name for themselves last season with a strong fourth-place finish. FFC finished immediately behind them in fifth place, but unlike DFC and other better-placed teams, they opted for promotion to the Berlin League and will therefore go into the cup tie as a team from a higher division. However, they have yet to win in the Berlin top flight. The team is currently in 13th place.
Will FFC perhaps manage their first win of the season in the "match of the day"? Or will DFC Kreuzberg prevail against their former league rivals, as they did twice in the previous season, to record their second win of the current campaign? All Berlin soccer fans can be curious.
