"Match of the day": Cup fever in the Fuchsbau

The floodlights are on and the burgers are on the grill once again at the time-honored Wackerplatz when Füchse Reinickendorf host VSG Altglienicke in the quarter-finals of the COSY-WASCH State Cup for men on December 9, 2025 at 7:00 pm. Berlin league leaders against third division promotion aspirants - it doesn't get much more exciting than that! The match will therefore be covered by the BFV as the "Match of the Day". In the Instagram story (@berlinerfv) we will keep you up to date during the match, before the highlights will be available later as a commentated post-match report on our channels.

Who will take the penultimate step towards the final?

When referee Julius Hanft blows the whistle for kick-off on Tuesday evening, all spectators can look forward to at least 90 minutes of thrilling cup action. The hosts from the Fuchsbau are currently at the top of the Berlin League table. After 15 games, they are in first place, which would mean promotion to the Oberliga at the end of the season. However, there was a slight setback recently: after six wins in a row, they only managed a draw against Stern 1900 on the last matchday. The 2:2 equalizer was conceded in stoppage time.

Will the higher-ranked VSG be able to capitalize on the momentum against the otherwise in-form Reinickendorf side? After 18 games, Altglienicke are in fourth place in the Regionalliga Nordost table. With a nine-point gap to the top, the championship and thus participation in the promotion matches to the 3rd division are still far from out of reach. With just one defeat from their last seven league games, the south-east Berliners have recently underlined their qualities. Will they beat the Foxes and get one step closer to the next national cup title after 2020? Or will the Foxes pull off another coup after beating regional league side BFC Dynamo in a memorable cup tie in 2021?
