Back and forth in the first half
"If you don't score goals up front, you'll concede them at the back" - that wasn't just a phrase in the early stages of the "match of the day". After FFC had missed several good chances at the start of the match, it was DFC who struck first in the person of Maren Sörgel: the 1:0 was scored after twelve minutes in a technically demanding manner. The team from Kreuzberg did their best not to show any difference in class in the remainder of the opening period: Chelsea Wright took advantage of a misunderstanding in the FFC defense to make it 2-0.
With 26 minutes played, FFC got themselves on the scoreboard in an entertaining cup tie. Celine Täger was through on goal after a strong cross-field pass and made it 2:1. However, the narrow deficit for the visitors was only to last until shortly before half-time: Constanze Gülle pushed the ball over the line from close range (42') to give Kreuzberg what looked like a comfortable starting position for the second half. However, DFC had not reckoned with Annabelle Filippovich, who reduced the deficit again for FFC with a penalty on the stroke of half-time.
Kreuzberg puts the lid on it
While the first half saw a flurry of events, the second half was a little quieter on the Lobecksport pitch and the game lived primarily from the tension. The game remained close for a long time and FFC could even have equalized shortly after the restart (50') with a ball from Filippovich that went just wide of the goal, but DFC Kreuzberg finally put the lid on it before the final phase: Chelsea Wright from close range (70') and Anja Sörgel with a lob (75') ultimately ensured a 5:2 victory for the Pink and Blacks, who will thus be represented in the round of 16 draw on 15 October.
