On the occasion of the Media Day for the COSY-WASCH men's national cup final on May 23, 2026, the coaches of both finalists had their say and gave an outlook on the upcoming final day of the amateurs. In the following interview, BFC coach Sven Körner provides an insight into the decisive phase.
Congratulations on reaching the COSY-WASCH national cup final. How much are you and the team looking forward to the final?
The anticipation is great, of course. The cup season has been successful so far and we've already knocked a few teams out of the way, which wasn't that easy. So it has to be said that we deserve to be in the final and are naturally looking forward to it.
Both the quarter-final and the semi-final were highly charged games. What memories do you have of these emotional games, in which your team showed nerves time and again?
I have very good memories of all the cup games. In Mahlsdorf, we scored the winning goal in the last minute of extra time, and it was an absolutely deserved win against Preussen. The semi-final against Sparta Lichtenberg in particular, where we won the game after extra time, was extremely emotional. All three games were characterized by a lot of emotion, a lot of willingness to run and passion. We deserve to be in the final and want to approach it in the same way.
