Berlin U15 impresses with double victory against Hamburg

The new U15 team from Berlin made a positive impression in their first match of the year. In two games, the Hamburg selection was a guest.

In the first game, the players from the youth academies of Hertha BSC and 1. FC Union played for Berlin and dominated the action from the start. With a composed style of play, the Berliners controlled the action and took the lead through Yirimea Weiß. Hamburg were able to equalize, but the hosts remained the dominant team. They repeatedly found ways through the Hamburg defense, exploited gaps in the offside trap and continuously created danger in front of goal. Osamudiamen Oviawe scored twice and Latif Lamere added another goal to make the final score 4:1. Taha Soueidan and Jannick Strömer stood out from a very good team performance.

In the second game, the boys faced the Hamburg selection away from the youth training centers. It quickly became apparent that the Berlin team was also able to hold its own in this match. Even in the first period, they managed to win many balls by pressing early on. Keylian Tientcheu Monkam (Man of the Match) and Luca Keßel deservedly added their names to the list of scorers. Hamburg played with commitment, but were repeatedly thwarted by the attentive Berlin back line. Two more Berlin goals followed in the second half: Simon Afuye was fouled in the penalty area and confidently converted the penalty. After a corner, Julian Plötner increased the lead to 4:0 with a header before Hamburg came back in the final third and reduced the deficit to a fair 4:2.

"Lots of talent outside the professional clubs too"

Association sports coach Rudy Raab was full of praise for the performances of both teams: "We were able to impress in both games. In the first game, you could see that Berlin has a lot of top players in the 2011 age group and there were still a few missing who are currently with the national team. In the second game, we were once again able to show that we have a lot of talent outside of the professional clubs. The coaches at the clubs are doing a very good job."
