BFC Alemannia completes DFB trial run for "certification of clubs"

On the weekend of February 22/23, clubs from all over Germany met at the DFB Campus in Frankfurt to complete the trial run for the "Certification of Clubs". Since March 2025, the DFB has been supported by clubs from the amateur base on the way to developing a program for the "Certification of Clubs". Each national association was represented and thus contributed to the completion of a first important milestone on this path.

"Valuable insights for the future certification process"

A total of 21 clubs took part in the trial run, with one or two representatives from each regional association. BFC Alemannia 1890 is participating on behalf of the Berlin Football Association, closely supported by the BFV club advisory service. Club advisor Johannes Semmelroth and Martin Meyer, Head of Qualification, Sport & Sports School, are supporting the traditional club throughout the entire process and were also present as BFV representatives at the final event in Frankfurt.

"The trial run showed how important the close exchange between the DFB, regional associations and clubs is for the development of the new certification. With BFC Alemannia, we had a very good club at our side for Berlin, with whom we were able to gain many valuable insights for the future certification process," emphasizes club consultant Johannes Semmelroth.

Marco Krieger, club representative of BFC Alemannia, also drew a positive conclusion:

"Through the trial run, we critically scrutinized ourselves at several points of the certification and gained many valuable insights. We have restructured processes, areas of responsibility and positions in order to create a solid basis for the future. Refereeing and volunteer support will be even more of a focus for clubs in the future. Many thanks to the club consultants Johannes and Martin for their comprehensive support."

Further development of the certification program

During the event, DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth thanked all participating clubs, club advisors and association representatives for their commitment. The findings from the trial run will now be incorporated into the further development of the certification program. This is intended to provide amateur clubs with targeted support for challenges such as volunteer management, expansion of services and administrative requirements.
