COSY-WASCH National Cup: Cup emotions at Monumentenstraße
Lübars wins the double in the local derby
In the first final of the day, the 7s teams from TSV Berlin-Wittenau and 1. FC Lübars faced each other. Lübars, the newly crowned Berlin League champions, got off to a dominant start and wanted to set the tone against the regional league team from the outset. This was rewarded with a 1:0 lead after twelve minutes through Yannick Hejzlar. The joy of the goal did not last long for the Whites, however, as Pirinthan Sivharan equalized for TSV almost immediately (13'). The high tempo of the early stages was followed by a calmer period, which Lübar's Sascha Scharnowski ended with a precise header to make it 1-2 (28'). Wittenau subsequently became stronger and pressed for an equalizer up to the break and for long stretches of the second half.
Probably the best chance to level the scores came in the 51st minute, but Lübars keeper Steffen Rehnisch made two brilliant saves, first against Davut Akkus and seconds later against Govinda Gutierrez Sierra. The Reinickendorf derby became hectic in the closing stages, especially as Lübars' Miles Teuber missed a huge opportunity to decide the game in the 67th minute. TSV were unable to reward themselves for their great fight in the end. In stoppage time, Pirinthan Sivharan missed his second goal and thus the equalizer. 1. FC Lübars took the 2:1 lead over time and can therefore celebrate the double of Berlin championship and cup victory in the men's 7s.
Despite being outnumbered for 110 minutes: Hertha 03 win penalty thriller
In the second act of the long COSY-WASCH state cup final day, Viktoria Berlin III and FC Hertha 03 III faced off in the lower men's division. Hertha 03 came out of the locker room in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district duel in better shape. In the 7th minute of the game, it was Noah Maas who scored to take a 1:0 lead. Despite the hot summer temperatures, the game did not take a breather and continued in furious fashion: Zehlendorf's Moritz-Ruben Jänsch was shown the red card by referee Hassan Jallous for a rough tackle and had to watch from outside as Viktoria got into the game better (9'). After 17 minutes, a Himmelblau attack resulted in a penalty, which Panagiotis Vlachonikolos confidently converted. Ten minutes before the break, the Hertha 03 fans cheered again - but only for a brief moment. Noah Maas' supposed second goal was disallowed due to a previous foul.
After half-time, the score was 2:1 - but on the other side for FC Viktoria. Panagiotis Vlachonikolos curled a free-kick beautifully into the corner to score his second goal of the day (48'). Despite the setback, Zehlendorf did not lose their composure and played a strong game with ten men. Florian Ziegele tested Viki goalkeeper Tom Voigt with a powerful volley from distance (57'). In the 69th minute, his team-mate Nathan Sarzynski took more accurate aim and welded the ball home to make it 2:2. Hertha 03 then had the better opportunities despite being outnumbered, but no further goals were scored until the end of normal time.
As the half-time whistle blew in extra time, Zehlendorf even had a great chance to make it 3-2: Paolo Rossi stepped up to take a penalty kick, but missed the target. The final therefore had to be decided in a shoot-out. Hertha goalkeeper Yannik Maas was the hero, saving two penalties. Leonard Falb converted the decisive tenth shot from the spot to make the final score 5:6 on aggregate. Despite being short-handed since the ninth minute of the match, Hertha 03 kept their cool in the heated battle, won the local derby and lifted the trophy.
Triple Senne shoots Inter to cup victory
At the end of the COSY-WASCH state cup final day on Whit Monday, the 2nd men were looking forward to their showdown. The Spandauer Kickers II faced FC Internationale II. The state league team from Schöneberg, who are higher up in the division, got going from the start and put the club from Kreisliga A under pressure. It took 22 minutes for the first noise to be heard in the stands: After a clever pin pass, Inters Joshua Senne scored for a 1:0 lead. SpaKi defended well from then on, but were rarely able to make their own mark in front of goal. Shortly before the break, FC Internationale struck again through Senne. The number 9 pushed a low cross over the line with a sliding tackle to make it 2:0 at the break.
The national league side continued to dominate proceedings in the second half, but were initially unable to extend their lead. This only changed after 65 minutes, when SpaKi's Elias Wesner was only able to stop his opponent by holding him and was shown the red card for an emergency stop. Joshua Senne converted the subsequent penalty kick - the Inter goalscorer's third goal of the day. At the other end, Spandau, who fought bravely, were unable to score. Perhaps the best opportunity fell to Steffen Sawallich, who poked the ball just wide of the post after confusion in the Inter penalty area (80'). In stoppage time, Schöneberg added the final goal: substitute Selim Häußermann rounded the keeper and crossed for Miguel Nunez-Von-Voigt, who only had to slot home. FC Internationale II defeated Spandauer Kickers II 4:0 and celebrated winning the COSY-WASCH State Cup.
The BFV would like to thank the finalists, the referees, the organizing team of the match committee and all other helpers and supporters who made this final day in the COSY-WASCH State Cup unforgettable for everyone involved.
