A lot to get to know
In addition to the sporting competition, the focus was on the exchange between the players and getting to know the city for the guests. On Thursday evening, they went on a tour of the Olympic Stadium. Friday's program included a boat tour on the Spree and a visit to the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie. As a finale for the players, delegation and staff, the barbecue was fired up at the Wannsee sports school on Saturday evening - the Parisians were then able to cheer several times while watching the men's Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan together.
Association sports coach Falko Grothe summed up: "It was a very demanding competition for our players. On the first day of the tournament, we created numerous good situations with courage and self-confidence, but were not clear and efficient enough in the final third. It was a different story on the second day of the tournament: we were no longer able to bring our strengths to the pitch and were unable to find a way to counter the physical presence and ruthless style of play of the two teams. For the players, these were challenging situations that allowed them to grow, making it a good experience to face opponents of this level. Prague was the best team in the tournament and deserved to win - congratulations!"
The tournament also marks the official end of the 2010 season. This year's squad will now go into the trials for the new U16 national selection in the summer.
The players were selected by: 1. FC Union Berlin, BW Berolina Mitte, Eintracht Mahlsdorf, Hertha BSC, Nordberliner SC, Rotation Prenzlauer Berg, RW Viktoria Mitte.
