Sparki Cup 2026: Thrilling final in the Sömmeringhalle
"THE school football highlight in Germany"
"I would like to congratulate the winners and all other participants in this year's Sparki Cup on their impressive achievements," says Bernd Schultz, President of the Berlin Football Association. "Year after year, the tournament impressively demonstrates how soccer can spark enthusiasm and at the same time convey important values such as fair play, respect and tolerance in a fun way. My special thanks go to Berliner Sparkasse and everyone who made the 51st Sparki Cup possible and whose commitment has made it what it is: THE school football highlight in Germany."
Katharina Günther-Wünsch, Senator for Education, Youth and Family, says: "As the largest indoor football tournament for elementary school, the Sparki Cup is an outstanding example of school sport in Berlin. It brings together children from all districts and teaches important values such as team spirit, fairness and discipline alongside sporting performance - in keeping with the Olympic spirit. It becomes clear how early sporting enthusiasm and motivation are anchored in the everyday lives of many pupils. I would like to thank everyone who makes this traditional event possible year after year with their great commitment."
"Schools and sports clubs make a major contribution"
In addition to the action on the pitch, a varied supporting program in the hall also provided plenty of entertainment. The mascots Herthinho (Hertha BSC), Ritter Keule (1. FC Union Berlin), Icke (BFV) and Sparki (Berliner Sparkasse), as well as Theo Tintenklecks (Theo Ink Blob), fired up the atmosphere, signed autographs and were on hand for photo opportunities. The Berlin School of Artists thrilled the crowd with two spectacular shows between the games. Four pupils were also given the opportunity to accompany the final match day as children's reporters and look over the shoulders of the BFV communications department at work. The program was rounded off with information on BFV qualification measures, Berliner Sparkasse and other Sparki Cup partners.
"The Sparki-Cup is about team spirit, discipline, fairness, but above all about the joy of soccer and getting the best out of the team together," says Dr. Johannes Evers, CEO of Berliner Sparkasse. "Sport and being part of a team, as in this case, is not only fun and keeps you fit, but also enriches our lives and our society in so many ways. Schools and sports clubs in our city make a major contribution to this. That's why we at Berliner Sparkasse have been particularly committed to promoting sport for many years."
