Focus on goalkeepers

At the first goalkeeper day of the BFV talent development program, the young players were able to further develop their position and gain a better understanding of their role in goal. The first training session on basic goalkeeping techniques was held in the morning, before returning to the Wannsee Sports School for lunch. Afterwards, the focus was on goalkeeper DNA: what skills are needed to be successful as a goalkeeper. It quickly became clear that although keeping the ball is the core skill, the profile is much more diverse. The afternoon was all about performing: goal-specific competitions, shootouts and battles were the main focus and fired up the ambition on the pitch.

In addition to the players, coaches with B and C licenses were also on site for observation and further training. For them, the question was: how can I support my players in goal if I don't have a specialist for the position in my coaching team? What are the technical and tactical basics in goal that I should also know as a team coach?

The responsible BFV goalkeeper coach Sarah Duszat summarizes: "I can look back on a very positive goalkeeper day. It was great to see how enthusiastic and keen to learn the goalkeepers were. We were able to work together on basic techniques and give the goalkeepers new ideas for their training. It was particularly important for me to show how small adjustments in team training can be made to involve and support the goalkeepers even better. The exchange with the coaches was very valuable. You could feel that everyone wants to work on putting even more focus on the further development of goalkeepers in the clubs. An all-round successful day."

Another day for committed female goalkeepers is planned for spring 2026. Registration will be advertised in good time via the BFV.
