The comparison with the state associations from Lower Saxony and the Middle Rhine, which are regularly among the strongest associations in Germany in this age group and took first and second place in this year's state cup, is now part of the U16 juniors' traditional autumn program. After arriving at the Hennef Sports School on Thursday and training in the evening, the first match against the U16 team from Lower Saxony was scheduled for Friday morning.

Berlin U16 juniors put in a strong performance at the three-country tournament
Game 1: Berlin - Lower Saxony 1:5
Four Berlin players made their debut for the national team in the first match, compared to the NOFV regional tournament there were a total of eight new players in the sixteen-strong squad. After an even start to the game, an early goal conceded and a quick equalizer by Amélie, Berlin found it difficult to keep up the pace from halfway through the game. The Berliners repeatedly made pinpricks and gained longer periods of possession, but in the end it was still 1:5 for the superior team from Lower Saxony.
Game 2: Mittelrhein - Berlin 2:3
The second match on Saturday was against the hosts from Mittelrhein. Both teams tried to exert pressure straight away, but Berlin got off to the better start. Hannah won the ball herself in the center circle after 10 minutes, escaped the last defender, curved around the goalkeeper and scored to make it 1:0. Mittelrhein remained stable despite conceding the goal and turned the game around with two goals within 20 minutes, but the Berliners showed mentality, equalizing first through Carlotta, who scored her first goal for the state team, and then scoring five minutes before the end through Hannah, who again won the ball herself in the pressing area and finished to make the final score 3:2.
The match between Mittelrhein and Niedersachsen ended in a 3-3 draw on the final matchday.
In addition to the two high-quality matches, the focus was also on the individual and collective growth of all players and teams. On Friday evening, the three associations attended the Nations League semi-final between Germany and France in Düsseldorf and cheered on the German women to a 1-0 victory. On Saturday, a soccer tournament was played in mixed teams from all associations. In the evening, the Berlin women went into individual training sessions and video analysis.
"Focus on the joint development of the players"
Association sports coach Falko Grothe: "We come back from Hennef with many positive impressions. The comparisons with Mittelrhein and Niedersachsen were very informative in terms of soccer and showed very clearly where we have our strengths, which we need to cultivate, but also where we still need to develop and where other associations are currently ahead of us. All the players contributed to the team and it was also a good opportunity to integrate new players into the team. Our team has a lot of technically strong players, a big heart and believes in itself. In comparison, however, we still lack the long range and more consistent decision-making with the ball to take the next step. The conditions at the sports school were once again outstanding. You can tell that the three associations don't give each other anything on the pitch, but there is a very friendly atmosphere off the pitch and the focus is on the joint development of the players. Many thanks to all the players and coaches involved for the successful days."
The players were seconded by 1. FC Union Berlin, BW Hohen Neuendorf, Borussia Pankow, Hertha BSC, Sportfreunde Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and Viktoria 1889. The U16 juniors will now continue their weekly training sessions. The next training session will take place just before Christmas: they will meet up again with the state association from Lower Saxony, who will be visiting Wannsee.
