Tradition on the training ground

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the sixth qualification day for amateur and youth coaches took place at the An der Alten Försterei stadium. 150 coaches did not want to miss out on the event, which is traditionally organized jointly by the Berlin Football Association and its education partner, 1. FC Union Berlin, and received further training on modern training methods from the speakers.

This year's qualification day opened with an exciting keynote speech followed by a demo session by Union's A-junior coach Marie-Louise Eta and U17-junior coach Robert Fischer, before the participants continued to work, discuss and learn together in various workshops on small and large pitch topics in the afternoon. The focus for the small pitch was on the development of playing ability through game forms, technical training in game forms and polysportsmanship. On the large pitch, the DFB game phase model with a focus on switching, video analysis and game principles as well as mental strength in the game were covered.

"Open, curious and working together"

"Once again this year, it was impressive to see how around 150 coaches came together at the An der Alten Försterei stadium to train and exchange ideas," said Jessica Grassmann, Deputy Team Leader Qualification at the BFV, drawing a positive conclusion and continued: "The newly designed joint kick-off in the plenary session set the tone for the day - open, curious and together. The positive response and the open mood of the participants confirmed the new approach. A big thank you goes to 1. FC Union Berlin for the excellent organization and the constructive cooperation.

Marcus Urban, education coordinator at Union Berlin, could only agree with the positive summary: "In cooperation with our education partner, the BFV, we held six workshops on the topics of small and large pitches. All in all, it was another very successful event. Many thanks to all the helping hands who organized the day on and off the pitch. See you again in 2026!"
