Ü-Football: Team Berlin impresses at German Championships

Hertha BSC are the new German over-40 men's champions: on Sunday, August 24, the blue and whites lifted the trophy in their home Olympic Park after two dominant tournament days. The Ü32 women from Türkiyemspor Berlin and the Ü32 men from BSV Dersim also attracted attention with strong performances at the German Ü soccer championships - but it wasn't quite enough for more Berlin titles.

Lossless to the championship

Last year, only a single goal separated Hertha BSC's over-40 men's team from winning the title, which was won by Bayer Leverkusen at the time. The Berliners now won the 2025 German Championships with aplomb and were able to celebrate twelve months later. The team led by former professionals such as Benjamin Köhler and Karim Benyamina played their four tournament matches against SC Westfalia Herne (5:0), SG Mittelmosel-Leiwen (2:1), 1. FC Nürnberg (2:1) and SC Condor Hamburg (2:1) without losing any points. With a five-point lead over the second-placed "Clubbers", the Herthans secured their second German Ü40 championship title after their first triumph in 2010.

Türkiyemspor and BSV Dersim impress

In the over-32 women's competition, Türkiyemspor Berlin ended up just two points short of the title. However, the women from Kreuzberg can be proud of their impressive performances and their runner-up finish. The reigning NOFV champions remained unbeaten in five tournament matches and only had to settle for a draw against the eventual title winners from 1. FC Riegelsberg (0:0) and the equally highly rated women from FC Bayern Munich (1:1). Victories against MTV Barum (4:3), SG 99 Andernach (2:0) and SGS Essen (2:1) were unfortunately not quite enough to secure Berlin's second major triumph of the weekend.

BSV Dersim, a Berlin representative, was also in action at the German championship for over-32 men. The team led by former professional Max Kruse got off to a promising start on the first day of the tournament on Saturday with a 2:1 win over 1. FC Wunstorf - but in the end it wasn't quite enough for the title. After narrow defeats against FC Bayern Munich (1-2) and TuS Stenern (2-3), a 1-1 draw against Spvgg Quierschied secured fourth place in the final table.
