Valuable experience and visible development steps

At the end of November, the Berlin U12 team met for a joint training course with the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association. On both days, two different Berlin squads took to the pitch to play a match against the best players from Schleswig-Holstein. The aim of the training course was to give the players their first experience in the selection area and at the same time to target key areas of development.

The main focus was on courageous, offensive one-on-one play, a high level of activity and a self-confident appearance in demanding match situations. Under these conditions, the two games offered valuable learning opportunities and at the same time painted an exciting picture of the potential within the Berlin 2012 and 2015 age groups.

"A lot of potential in the young Berlin talents"

The match on Saturday was clearly in favor of the guests from Schleswig-Holstein. In many situations, the Berlin team had to get used to the high tempo, the intensity of the duels and the consistency of the opposing team. This day clearly showed the demands of selection soccer and the individual development steps required.

The reaction on Sunday was all the more impressive: with a newly assembled squad, the Berliners put in a strong performance, playing courageously one-on-one, being more present in tackles and clearly more determined in their actions. This was also reflected in the result, as the game was now clearly won. The match highlighted the need for a high level of competition to stimulate individual development.

State coach Lukas Fechner drew a positive conclusion: "Overall, the weekend showed how much potential there is in the young Berlin talents. For many of them, it was an important assessment of where they stand and an opportunity to get to know their own benchmark for future tasks. We hope that the players will draw motivation from this experience for the next steps in their development and continue on their path with joy, courage and commitment.
